Anaesthesiology
Anaesthesia & premedication outpatient unit
Every time schedulable general or regional anaesthesia is performed at the UKR, a general anaesthesiologist from the pre-medication outpatient unit will conduct a detailed interview with you.
It is important for us to find out in as much detail as possible about your current state of health and possible pre-existing conditions, as it allows us to keep the anaesthesia as risk-free as possible.
Therefore, please be sure to bring the following to your pre-anaesthesia interview:
- Documentation from previous hospitalizations and examinations
- Allergy and heart disease record card, if available
- Full list of drugs you take on a regular basis
In any case, please let us know if you or your relatives have ever experienced problems with anaesthesia!
Education and questions
During the pre-anaesthesia interview, you will of course have the opportunity to have your questions answered and express any concerns you may have before being anaesthetised. We will inform you in detail about the anaesthetic procedures in question, the process, and potential risks associated with general or regional anaesthesia.
It is possible that, during the pre-anaesthesia interview, it will become apparent that further investigations such as a stress ECG are necessary for safety reasons. This will be discussed with you in detail you as necessary.
