Paediatric ophthalmology
Poor vision or squinting in children can lead to impaired vision development (amblyopia) with limited spatial vision. Early diagnosis and treatment is therefore particularly important in children. Our specialist department offers you the entire diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum of paediatric ophthalmology, from conservative measures to surgical therapies.
In our paediatric ophthalmology department, we treat children with all eye diseases and visual impairments: from squinting and eye movement disorders to orbital and hereditary retinal diseases.
Our main services:
Treatment of common eye problems in children:
- Amblyopia (impaired vision development)
- Squinting
- Visual impairment (visual aids, glasses)
- Diseases of the eyelids, tear ducts and conjunctiva
- Optic nerve changes etc.
As part of the Centre for Rare Diseases at the UKR (ZSER), we also offer treatment for rare and severe eye diseases in children.
This saves parents of children with rare eye diseases having to travel long distances to specialist centres. The cutting-edge medicine of the University Hospital Regensburg thus also directly benefits children with rare eye diseases.
Treatment of rare and severe eye diseases in children:
- (Hereditary) retinal diseases
- Retinal damage in premature babies
