X-ray diagnostics

Conventional X-ray

UKR uses digital flat panel detectors, which reduce radiation exposure in conventional X-ray diagnostics by 50 per cent. Conventional X-ray diagnostics of the skeleton and chest expose patients to radiation, yet despite alternative procedures such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, it still plays a major role in medical diagnostics and is frequently used. The risks of this exposure to radiation and the increasing number of X-ray examinations performed have been repeatedly highlighted in the press.

Our goal is to minimise radiation exposure during individual examinations without compromising diagnostic quality. The development of what are known as digital flat-panel detectors has proven to be very helpful in this regard. In addition to direct digital image capture, this technology offers the possibility of significantly reducing exposure to radiation.

University Hospital Regensburg is a global leader in experimental and clinical testing and the application of this technology in routine operations.
