X-ray Diagnostics

Sonography / ultrasound

The Department of X-ray Diagnostics has two state-of-the-art high-performance ultrasound devices.

These allow even the smallest lesions and early vascular changes to be assessed in detail thanks to high-resolution probes up to 16 MHz.

We also offer 3D imaging and flow assessment using state-of-the-art vascular ultrasound techniques.

State-of-the-art contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)

Both devices are used for the further development of state-of-the-art contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) procedures. These procedures enable a new view of the smallest tumour vessels and offer the chance of even better tumour diagnosis and treatment.

It was only through the use of improved high-resolution linear transducers that contrast-enhanced sonography of soft tissue grafts could be significantly improved. This is possible for the first time in this form thanks to the latest developments in equipment technology.

Current examinations:

  • High-resolution B-mode ultrasound with Sono-CT and 3D procedures
  • Colour-coded duplex ultrasound and power Doppler
  • Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound
  • Elastography for assessing changes in soft tissue
  • Contrast-enhanced ultrasound with perfusion analysis

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound is a particular focus of current research, and numerous publications are available on the results of this research. Your contact for ultrasound and mammography is Senior Physician Prof. Dr. Ernst Michael Jung (DEGUM III).
