Bleeding and haemorrhagic diathesis
Most children and adolescents consult us to clarify an increased tendency to bleed or because of abnormal coagulation values in the run-up to surgery.
Cross-generational family history: We objectively assess the bleeding tendency in a detailed discussion covering cross-generational family history and arrange for any further laboratory tests required.
Paediatric Haemophilia Centre
We provide care and treatment for patients with congenital haemorrhagic diathesis in our specialist Paediatric Haemophilia Centre, working in an interdisciplinary team with local specialists to deliver the highest standards of medical care.
Haemorrhagic diathesis
Congenital haemorrhagic diathesis is an inherited increased tendency to bleed caused by defects in the blood clotting system or platelets, leading to spontaneous bleeding, excessive bleeding after injury, or prolonged bleeding. These disorders accompany those affected throughout their lives and can in most cases be treated effectively.
