Anaesthesiology
Referrer information
In preparation for a planned surgical procedure or carry out a diagnostic procedure under general or regional anaesthesia, we the anaesthetists will conduct a pre-medication interview with our patients. We carefully record all previous illnesses, define the appropriate anaesthetic procedure together with the patient and, if necessary, a special procedure for post-operative pain therapy. In addition to the information orally provided by the patient, we will, in many cases, require additional details from associated and referring physicians and ask for their help.
For pre-medication, the following information or tests are needed
- Drug history
- Blood parameters: complete blood count without differential, electrolytes, coagulation, and retention levels (test results not older than 14 days, the clinical picture being constant)
> in ASA* I - II patients, only if history is abnormal
> in ASA III-V patients and/or > 60 years for all patients - ECG: 12-lead ECG for patients ≥ 45 years of age (test results not older than 6 months, the clinical picture being constant) – indication for ECG before age 45. Year of life:
> History or known cardiovascular conditions,
> Clinical signs of cardiac diseases or risk factors,
> Prescription of cardiac or cardiotoxic drugs (e. g. cytotoxic drugs). - X-ray: chest x-ray for patients ≥ 70 years of age and/or ASA* III-IV (test results not older than ≤ 12 months, the clinical picture being constant)
Other findings:
We'd like to ask you to provide the patient with any available test results (copies are sufficient) of the last two years for their hospitalization and to inform us of any known pathological findings. The following examinations or findings are relevant for us:
- Cardiovascular system: cardiac echo, cardiac catheterization results, Doppler brain vasculature studies, presence of occlusive peripheral arterial disease or gastrointestinal vascular stenosis (e.g., renal artery stenosis)
- Lungs: chest imaging, pulmonary function tests
- Psyche and nervous system: examinations / pathological findings
- Oropharyngeal examination: examinations / pathological findings
