Donating blood to be used in research

How do I withdraw my consent and what other rights do I have?

The legal basis for data processing is your consent pursuant to Article 6 (1)(a) and Article 9 (2)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

You can revoke your consent to the use of your biomaterials and data at any time without stating reasons and without any negative consequences for you. The lawfulness of the use of the samples and data performed until the revocation, however, remains unaffected.

The biomaterials will be destroyed and the data erased in the event of revocation. However, data can only be erased if this does not seriously impair the realisation of the research project or render it impossible. Therefore, data obtained from analyses that have already been performed can no longer be removed, for example.

Instead of destruction or erasure, you may also agree that the biomaterials and data may still be used in an anonymised form for scientific purposes. Anonymisation means that the identification code, by means of which it is possible to identify the person the sample came from, is erased. However, the anonymisation of your biomaterials can never completely rule out the later assignment of the genetic material to your person. In addition, due to your decision, specific data destruction is no longer possible as soon as anonymisation has been performed.

You can also request information about the personal data stored from the Regensburg University Hospital within the framework of the legal stipulations. You are also entitled to demand rectification of incorrect data, the portability of the data provided by you as well as the erasure of the data or restriction of processing.
