      The NUM-DIZ project builds on the groundwork laid by the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), under which Data Integration Centers (DIZ) were established at most German university hospitals with the aim of supporting data provision as well as cross-site data integration and analysis. As part of the NUM-DIZ project, the already established DIZs are continuously expanding their service portfolio and tapping into new data sources.

    • MII-DIFUTURE January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2026 (Funding ID: 01ZZ2304F)
      The “Data Integration for Future Medicine” (DIFUTURE) consortium is developing innovative IT solutions to consolidate and utilize patient data that was previously processed and stored separately. To this end, the Technical University of Munich, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, the University of Ulm, their university hospitals, and the University of Augsburg have joined forces. They are working closely with other partners, such as the University Hospital Regensburg, Saarland University, and the University Hospital of Saarland. An agreement has been reached to expand joint research activities for the upcoming funding phase from 2023 to 2026.

      The CODEX research data platform is being established as a secure, scalable, and interoperable platform for providing research data on COVID-19, connecting university hospitals nationwide. The aim is to provide the scientific community with high-quality, structured data and enable novel analyses.

    • NUM-RDP January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024 (Funding ID: 01KX2121)

      Originally developed as part of the CODEX project, the IT infrastructure is designed to enable the flexible and rapid provision and use of routine COVID-19 data. In the second phase of NUM (University Medicine Network), the RDP (Routine Data Platform) project ensures the continuity of operations and serves as the foundation for CODEX+, which is working on the further development of the RDP to accommodate additional data from new projects.
       

    • NUM-CODEX+ January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022
      To enable expansion and greater flexibility in the RDP (Routine Platform), the CODEX+ project participants are working on new features for the platform across various work packages. The UKR is involved in the work packages on intensive care, MII consent in the emergency department, and mHealth and eHealth (formerly NUM-COMPASS).

       
    • ABIDE-MI May 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023 (Funding ID: 01ZZ2061T)
      The use case “Aligning Biobanking and DIC Efficiently” (ABIDE-MI) is a collaborative project involving the majority of German university hospitals from the four consortia of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). Launched in May 2021, the project aims to enable the MII’s Data Integration Centers (DIZ) to link patient data from routine care with data on biosamples and make this information available for research. In particular, researchers should be able to submit feasibility inquiries via the MII’s future German Research Data Portal for Health.

    • CORD-MI February 1, 2020 – December 31, 2022 (in collaboration with the Center for Rare Diseases)
      The “Collaboration on Rare Diseases” (CORD-MI) use case is a collaborative project encompassing the four consortia of the Medical Informatics Initiative, involving numerous German university hospitals and partner institutions. The goal is to improve care and research in the field of rare diseases. It builds on the Innovation Fund projects TRANSLATE-NAMSE and ZSE-DUO as well as the national DIMDI project “Coding of Rare Diseases” and leverages the current state of development of the Medical Informatics Initiative across all consortia.
