Surgical intensive care medicine
An interdisciplinary treatment team in our surgical intensive care unit cares for critically ill surgical patients.
Our intensive care unit has 28 intensive care beds in single or double rooms that are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment. The unit treats around 2,000 patients a year.
Interdisciplinary care team
The surgical intensive care unit is under joint anaesthesiological and surgical management.
An interdisciplinary treatment team consisting of anaesthetists, general, visceral, trauma and vascular surgeons, intensive care nurses and physiotherapists look after those patients requiring intensive care.
We deal with the whole range of medical conditions and treat patients primarily from the specialist disciplines of surgery (general and visceral, trauma, vascular, plastic and reconstructive hand surgery), ear, nose and throat medicine, as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery. However, patients from neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and internal medicine also receive interdisciplinary care in this unit.
